Schnauzers Need Homes

Second Chance has been offered 3 Schnauzers (2 females and one male) that need foster homes within the Elkhart, Indiana area while they await their spay/neuter. Candy (15#), Kala (13.5#) and Lincoln (15-16#) are 5 year-old retired breeders; they need more human socialization, though the breeder indicates they are friendly. They are good with other dogs; have no known health issues; need continued work on house training. If you are interested in fostering (or Fostering-to-Adopt), contact Mary at (574) 524-6040. LEAVE A VOICE MESSAGE, INCLUDING YOUR NAME AND NUMBER, and she will respond as soon as possible. You can also submit an application to adopt through our online link.

Holly, female Shih Tzu

Holly is a 7-year-old retired breeder. She is somewhat timid with humans as a result and will need to be given time to adjust to household life. Patient consistency usually breaks through the timidity. Holly is exhibiting a perky personality. Quite cute! She is about 10#; had a recent dental and spay and is up to date on most of her vet care. She is good with other dogs. She is working on house training. Prefer a fenced yard or area for going potty. She is used to an inside/outside door. Holly’s adoption fee is $300. If interested, contact Mary at (574) 524-6040. LEAVE A VOICE MESSAGE, INCLUDING YOUR NAME AND NUMBER, and she will respond as soon as possible.

Cooper, CavaPoo—Adopted

Little Cooper is 5 months old and available for Foster-to-Adopt to a local home ONLY (Elkhart area) while he is awaiting his vet appointment. He is a sweet, gentle boy—yet energetic. Cooper entertains himself with toys; he loves to play with other dogs at his foster home (having apparently no sense of their personal space preferences) and would really benefit from a canine friend. He would also benefit from puppy training classes to help him learn to follow directions. A fenced yard is preferred so he can safely run and burn off energy. Cooper is crate trained and doing well on housebreaking with a schedule. Cooper is probably fine with children who are respectful with him. Adoption fee: $450. For details, contact Mary at (574) 524-6040. LEAVE A VOICE MESSAGE, INCLUDING YOUR NAME AND NUMBER, and she will respond as soon as possible.

Henry, CavaPoo puppy–Pending

Henry is a 4 month old King Charles Cavalier/Poodle mix puppy, available for Foster-to-Adopt to a local home (Elkhart area) ONLY while he awaits his vet appointment. Henry is very sweet, loving and gives kisses; he has lots of puppy energy. He gets along with other dogs. He is crate trained. For details, contact Mary at (574) 524-6040. LEAVE A VOICE MESSAGE, INCLUDING YOUR NAME AND NUMBER, and she will respond as soon as possible.

Cami, white Schnauzer

Cami, a 7-year-old white Schnauzer, is a retired breeder who needs continued patient socialization. Due to her shyness, we require a home with an existing well-adjusted dog (one that likes to interact with other dogs) that will help Cami adapt to a new home. She appears to connect better with women, but soft-spoken humans in general will do best with her, since she easily feels “scolded.” A fenced area is needed until she is comfortable on a leash/tie-out for going potty. She gets along well with other dogs, and has begun playing with toys. Cami likes to get right up into her foster mom’s face to sniff, get kisses, hug, etc. She is spayed and up to date on all veterinary care. Weight: approx 22#. She is working on house training and leash walking, but she still needs work on both of those. Cami’s adoption fee is $450. She is being fostered in Grand Rapids, Michigan. For more information or to discuss whether your home can meet Cami’s needs, contact her foster mom Michelle at (616) 949-7813 or m.vangeest@att.net.

Chanel, Yorkie female

This gal is small (but not pocket-sized!), weighing in around 8.5#. Chanel is 4 years old and adjusting to being gently handled by humans. She currently shows no interest in toys. A quiet home is preferred; older, respectful children may be an option. Chanel will need patient socialization and house training. She is not comfortable on a leash yet, so a fenced area (or exercise pen) for going potty is needed. She seems fine with other dogs if they’re respectful of her, and pays no attention to the cats in her foster home. Chanel is up to date on her vaccinations and heart worm negative. We are waiting for clarification as to whether she can be spayed and have a dental cleaning. Specific inquiries about Chanel can be directed to our email address: 2ndchancesmalldogrescue@gmail.com

Opal, Bernese Mt. Dog

Marshall, Miniature Poodle–Adopted

Marshall just turned 5 years old, and he’s excited about finding a forever home with humans who will give him loving attention and help him become his best self. He is smart, energetic and loving; eager to please; friendly with other dogs and OK with a calm cat. Marshall is comfortable in his crate and keeps it clean. He is working on house training but will need continued work on that. Marshall’s ideal home will have a fenced yard for burning off energy and a playful canine friend to keep him company if his people are gone for long hours. He is a tall miniature poodle and weighs approx. 18-20#. Marshall will be available for adoption after his vet appointment in mid-February; he will be neutered, up to date on vaccinations and heart worm testing at that time. All in all, Marshall is a delightful and beautiful boy with great potential! His adoption fee is $450. For details, contact his foster mom Michelle at m.vangeest@att.net or (616) 949-7813.
